JAY MARSHALL

The Dean of the Society of American Magicians, Jay Marshall, made fourteen appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show -- the most of any magician. He appeared on the bill with Frank Sinatra in Sinatra's first-ever Las Vegas appearance. Jay has performed at such theatres as The State, The Capital, The Roxy, Radio City Music Hall and The London Palladium. He was a staple at The Palace, and on Broadway appeared in the Ziegfeld Follies, and in Kurt Weill & Alan J. Lerner's "Love Life" starring Nanette Fabray (who Jay sawed in half eight times a week!). Also on Broadway, he played the role of Crumley - a magician/butler - in "It's Great to be Alive", where he actually played the bagpipes!

In 1954, Jay married Frances Ireland and moved to Chicago where further successes followed. He is the author of "TV, Magic and You" and was selected by Magic Magazine as one of the century's most influential magicians. On August 29, 1999 (Jay's 80th birthday), Mayor Daley proclaimed it "Jay Marshall Day" in the City of Chicago.
